	The invasion of Europe

The allied sea landing operation on the coast of Normandy, in France, began on 6th June 1944. Bearing the code name "Overlord", it was the first stage of the invasion of the continent, and of the formation of the second front in Europe.

Apart from the Polish air force and the Navy, Polish 1st Armoured Division also took part in the sea landing.
